 SBE Vision

To be nationally recognized for educating leaders prepared to manage in the complex workplace of the future.


 SBE Mission

The mission of the SBE is to prepare students to be leaders who shape the future.

The educational programs of the SBE are provided to qualified students from Michigan and from select national and international regions.

Through excellence in education, as reflected in the national recognition of our students, the SBE bridges technology and business to meet the needs of a global and technologically rich society. The educational experience is distinguished by personal attention to students, experiential learning, and an emphasis on teamwork and analytical skills.

Faculty emphasize quality teaching while maintaining a commitment to research and service.


 Missions of SBE Degree Programs

The SBE offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), the Bachelor of Science in Economics (BSE), and the Master of Science in Mineral Economics (MSME). The missions of each degree program are given below.

BSBA Program

The BSBA program povides a quality educational program which will enable students to succeed in meeting the changing needs of industry and society as they move into the 21st century. It will prepare graduates to interface with advanced technologies and to recognize and develop strategic and entrepreneurial capabilities. It will provide students with an understanding of the role of engineering and science in creating competitive advantages and the use of information technology to manage businesses of the future.

BSE Program

The BSE program provides students with an understanding of how economies function, strong quantitative skills, and the option to emphasize finance or business curricula or a broader curriculum mixing engineering, science, mathematics or social sciences with their study of economics.

MSME Program

The MSME program delivers graduate education to students with undergraduate technical or business degrees who desire careers which combine business/economic skills with technology in resource and/or environmental-related private or public sector activities.
